Election Day

Living in the United States is a blessing and an honor. While my heart is sometimes overwhelmed with sorrow at the increasing wickedness and humanism that seems to grip this country, there is no place in the world I'd rather live. It is a tremendous privilege to live in such a free state, but with that privilege comes responsibility.


Today is election day, one of the opportunities for Americans to exercise their responsibility to this great nation. Every American, regardless of creed, owes this day's homage to the great democracy that has granted us freedom. But many of us will pay this tribute by not going to the polls to support our favorite candidate. Our absence from the voting roster is not a matter of apathy, but of deliberate avoidance. We will stay home today and pray. To vote is power, but to pray is to launch the Divine imperative. God's word says, "the nations are as a drop of a bucket," (Isaiah 40:15), but "The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working" (James 5:16). To those who will not vote for Biblical reasons, your responsibility on this important day is immense. Pray, my friends. Pray hard for those whom the Lord will put in power. Being absent from the polls does not make election day a vacation for you. As you have pledged allegiance to the Lamb of God, exercise the principal American freedom: the freedom to pray for your country.
